Obituary of Thomas R. Tyson
Thomas R. Tyson of Mendon, NY passed away at age 50 on Saturday morning December 19 at the Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center. He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, friend and colleague. His lifetime of service to the church as elder and choir member demonstrated his tremendous faith.
Tom grew up on Grand Island, NY the son of Harold and Kay Edwards Tyson. He received his BS in Civil Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1981. He completed his SM in Civil Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983. The culmination of his immensely successful career was his role as Lead Structural Engineer on the construction of Ave Maria University. He was especially proud of the Oratory.
Family was Tom's pride and joy. He married Ruth, the love of his life, in 1983 and they were married for 26 years. He was dearly loved by his two children Mary and Jeff; exchange students Fernando and Amelie; parents Harold and Kay Tyson; in-laws Margaret and George Fletcher and cherished siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate his life January 2nd, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Mendon Church, 936 Cheese Factory Road (at the corner of Route 64).
