Obituary of James E. Johnston

James E. Johnston of Honeoye Falls, NY passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2023. He was born in Batavia, NY on November 30, 1939. He grew up in LeRoy, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert W. and Dorothy M. (Richter) Johnston and his brother, Gary R. Johnston. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He began his career in Computer Operations at Allstate Insurance Company and continued at Chase Manhattan Bank, retiring in 2001. Jim enjoyed many hobbies over the years. He spent many happy hours assembling his "N" scale model train layout, as well as, going out and taking videos of real trains. He built many model airplanes from kits. He collected stamps, Star Wars figures and NASCAR memorabilia. He liked relaxing in his recliner watching his favorite movies on DVD. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marlene A. (Campbell) Johnston, sister-in-law, Patricia (James) Yarosh of Ocala, FL and special nephew, Mitchell A. Johnston who helped as a caregiver. Many other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. His special companions Fuzzy and Pepper. The family would like to thank the many caregivers that Jim had, especially Jackie and Rondene. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Wilmot Cancer Center at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY where he spent many hours receiving care. A Funeral Mass to be held at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church in Honeoye Falls, NY at a future date to be determined by the family. Burial will be in St. Paul of the Cross Cemetery in Honeoye Falls, NY at that time.
