Obituary of Fay E. Jenks

Fay Eileen Jenks, age 88, of West Henrietta, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2023, with her devoted daughters by her side. Fay was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, and her son, Steven. She is survived by daughters, Amy (Dave) McGeough, and Lynn (Jamie) Friello and grandchildren, Kari and Matthew Mauro. Fay was born in Syracuse, NY and attended Onondaga Valley Academy, where she met the love of her life, Kenneth Jenks. After high school, they married and eventually moved from Syracuse to West Henrietta, where they raised their family. After Ken retired, they enjoyed visiting lighthouses along the Atlantic Coast. They also enjoyed annual trips to Daytona Beach during the winter months. Fay loved all sorts of crafting - quilting, sewing, knitting, embroidery and cross-stitch. Her many beautiful cross-stitch pieces were displayed around their home in frames handmade by her husband. When her hands wouldn't let her craft anymore, she took to coloring. Like her cross-stitch, she created beautiful images with her pencils. She was an avid reader. Up until her last days she would read a couple of books a week on her Kindle. After Ken's passing, in 2021, she moved into the Legacy at Erie Station. She loved her apartment and took great pride in it. From her couch, she loved watching the birds come to her bird feeder on her patio. While at the Legacy, she was fulfilled by new friendships and precious time spent with her daughters and grandchildren. Fay exhibited a strength in her new independence that surprised her family and doctors. She will be missed beyond measure. A private family service will be held at a future date.
