Obituary of Joan R. O'Mara

Joan Rae O'Mara of Honeoye Falls died Thursday, January 5, 2023, at age 83. She was born the daughter of Charles and Lela Potter on January 12, 1939, in Montour Falls, Schuyler County, NY. Joan was a music teacher in Bloomfield Central Schools and later became a finance director for the Town of Rush, NY. She graduated from college with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from SUNY Fredonia and Geneseo, respectively, where she met and married her late husband, John F. O'Mara. She is survived by her children, Timothy (Patricia), Michael (Jennifer), John Jr. (Heather-Lynn); 11 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters. Friends may call Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 4-7 PM at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home, Inc. 59 Monroe St. Honeoye Falls. Her memorial service and burial will be held Friday, January 20 at 9 AM at Rush United Methodist Church. Burial, at the Hector Union Cemetery, Burdette, NY.
