Obituary of Ruby L. Foote
Bloomfield – Ruby (LEAKE) Foote passed away on May 16 at the age of 89, after a brief illness. She leaves her husband of 68 years, Jim, and her daughters, Kelly (John) Lucero, of Henrietta, and Dana (Bruce) Shedden of Fairport. She also leaves her grandsons, Tyler and Zachary Lucero, and Miles and Owen Shedden, a sister, Joyce Lynn, a brother, Marlow (June) Leake, several nieces and nephews, and a very dear friend, Lori Ball, of Bloomfield. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Cleo Marlow and Reuben Leake of York. Ruby lived in York until 1998 when she and Jim moved to Bloomfield where they enjoyed living in their later years. Ruby's special place to spend time, other than her home, was the Genesee Country Village and Museum where she served as a photographer for 30 years and enjoyed a new "family" of friends there. She co-authored 3 children's books with a friend. During her adult years, she enjoyed sailing, skiing and woodcarving. Photographing birds and flowers, especially bluebirds, was her passion during her later life. A private celebration of her life will be held at home at the convenience of her family. At Ruby's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in her memory to: The Genesee Country Village and Museum, 1410 Flint Hill Road, Mumford, NY 14511 (www.gcv.org) or Serenity House of Victor, 1278 Brace Road, Victor, NY 14564 (www.serenity-house.org)
