Ted hired me as a young "Gear Theoretician" in 1986. He was my boss for almost 7 years at the Gleason Works. Together we broke new ground in bevel gear manufacture, as we were both patentors of the Phoenix universal generator. In the field if gearing, if Ted didn't know it, it was not worth knowing!
But beyond our professional involvement, Ted was one of the kindest, most modest, unassuming, people I ever had the privilege to know. He and Nancy hosted my wife and kids and me multiple times over the years. I recall when he moved an house off Kodak property and set it down a bit down the road.
Rest in peace, my good friend and mentor. You made the world a better place.
Sincerely,
Bob Goldrich

Andrew, Katie, and Peter,
My sincere condolences for your loss. I first met your dad in June of 1962. We both just graduated from the UofR and joined the R&D Department. Ted worked in Gil Spears Gear Theory Group and started his professional journey learning everything about bevel and hypoid gears. He picked the brains of the leading Gleason gear experts, Charlie King and Merriweather Baxter. It did not take Ted long to become a gear expert himself. Ted was instrumental in developing TCA, a significant achievement relating tooth contact to Gleason machine settings. He actively contributed to the American Gear Manufacturing Association. Ted was respected and well-liked by all his peers. We enjoyed having lunch together and more recently have reconnected at the monthly ROMEO Luncheons. It was my pleasure to have collaborated with Ted for over 20 years.

To the loved ones of Ted Krenzer—
Ted was a long-time employee of Gleason and a contributor even after his official retirement date. Ted was one of the brightest minds in our company being a valuable part of many of our important inventions over recent decades. Beyond being excellent mathematician and engineer, Ted was a wonderful example of professionalism and his behavior exemplified what we value in our culture.
