Nancy had a smile on her face the day she was born and it never faded, in good times and in sad times. She was the personification of Optimistic - there was always a solution, she always looked forward and she was willing to walk 'the yellow brick road'. I don't remember her father but knew her mother well and she always made me think she was a chip off her mother's block. She took her family and her career at HFL seriously. She laughed with them and cried with them and always helped anyone get back up and try again. My heartfelt sympathy to all family members, you are so very fortunate to have wonderful memories to continually remember her and those memories will help fill in the sad days and give you joy and laughter when you think of her in the future. She did love you very very much.

Mrs. Pool was such a positive person and we loved seeing her at all of our home volleyball games. She is such a special person and made every home game special with her announcing us starters onto the court. We love you Mrs. Pool and miss you dearly

To my dear Nancy and her family- You are so loved and have had such an impact on so many. Your positivity was powerful and continues to have its impact on so many of us. You gave and gave and gave- advice, love, encouragement, hope, jokes, perspective... I am SO lucky to have known you and everyone in the Hayes household shares great admiration for you. As for going forward, I saw this quote today and thought of Nancy: “This is how my love for her goes on: in moments remembered and moments imagined. It’s how I keep her alive. Hers is the voice in my head, my conscience. I see the world, at least in part, through her eyes; ... Love is what remains.” (Kristin Hannah, The Four Winds)
Sending our love, Eileen, Andy, Hannah, Wyatt, and Zetta Hayes

There was no one person in HF-L who was more helpful, respected, and loved. Whenever you needed an answer or to be pointed in the right direction, she was the person to go to. Whenever you needed the details of the last play, she saw it. She was a class act, a one of a kind and someone we all looked up to. We will truly miss Nancy.

Nancy will be missed greatly by all of the students and staff at HF-L. Nancy was a dominant presence at the school since we arrived in 2000, it will not be he same without her. We will always remember how well she treated our kids, especially with her sly humor. Our condolences to her family

Nancy was the Phys Ed teacher at St. Agnes High School in the late 1960's and early 1970's. She was my mentor and friend. It was because of her that I went to college at the University of Dayton for Physical Education. We had so much fun skiing every Friday night at Bristol with the ski club. I have so many great memories of her.
My heart goes out to her boys and families. Praying that you find peace in knowing how much she loved you.

Steadfast would be an appropriate description of Nancy; but in a fun, loving, and welcoming way. If the quality of your life can measured by the lives you have enriched, then Nancy’s life was almost immeasurable.
Sending love and condolences to the family; my heart is broken with her passing, and we only worked together a short time. I cannot imagine the void her loss has created for those fortunate enough to call her family.

Nancy was HFL High School. There first in the morning at the HS office and the last to leave. She was a guidance counselor for students, their mother, coach, friend, confidante, well she was Nancy. She loved her job and those fortunate to have known her, loved her back. I counted on her advice daily, she was an amazing graceful and kind person. We will miss her so much, and I count myself fortunate to have known her. Michael Hagerman, former HfL High School principal.

I remember when Mrs. Pool was my chaperone for the Virginia Beach trip. A few of us had face masks on and she walked in immediately and said “Oh, nice face? We need to go!”. I always loved her kindness and positive spirit. It was always good to see her at school. She has done so much for HFL and should be recognized for all her hard work and incredible personality. Rest In Peace Mrs. Pool

My sincere condolences to Nancy's family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with her. So many happy memories come to mind when I think of her at her desk in the HS Office. We played subtle tricks on each other. My heart is smiling now just thinking of what a wonderful thoughtful person Nancy was. God Bless Her.

Tom Rees
