For “Mr. Dunne’s” family...
Just wanted you all to know how VERY grateful I have always been to Mr. (& Mrs.) Dunne. My life would surely not have been as full & happy back then. I was able to have a childhood, like the rest of the “Ionia kids”. My mother did not drive, which could’ve prohibited me from doing many things that children like to do. Many times, too numerous to count, did he/they cart us kids to Sharky’s roller rink, Lowe’s theater, McDonalds, cheerleading practice/games, Roseland, summer rec & the list goes on and on...their van was always in the parking lot waiting for us to go home, safely...he let us girls take over the upstairs of the barn to build an escape home/fort to hang out in, away from the boys, or use it as a spook house for a carnival we would all put on... I will also never forget the smell of his pipe or sitting on a big stool watching him working in the barn or him just chillin by the wood stove with Mary, Fritzy and Sandy, their beloved Daschounds. He never once turned me away from their front door. He was a very kind soul, who always be fondly remembered.
