Mr. Lyle was an incredible teacher who taught skills beyond the subject matter that have served me well in both college and the real world. He was tough but fair, demanded the best from his students, and really made us put thought into our work. THANK YOU Mr. Lyle! You will be missed!

A dear friend, long term neighbor when we all lived in HF, great person to work with and an excellent teacher. Roland really cared about his classroom students and I am sure imparted some lifelong lessons as well as American History.
I am so happy we were able to share a visit last year during 'season' in Florida.
My sincere caring to all in the family during a trying time.

Roland was not only a true humanitarian, he oiled the squeak
in the step of all he encountered. He had the rare touch of making each of us feel a little better, just by being in his company.
Just look at the picture above and you can see the goodness,
with a touch of impishness, that was Roland.
Some of the best days of our lives were spent in the company
of he and SueKay.
Rejoice in the memory of this Good Man

Roland, Ed Page, Curt Barker (Honeoye Falls) and I, plus some others "kicked butt" in the early '80s to get the Rotary District Youth Exchange program under way. Roland followed me as chair from 1985-88. At that time we had nearly 80 students in/out participate. My next beer will have ice cubes in it!

It is with a sad heart that I send my condolences and that of my family to Roland Lyles family ,friends and former students . I had the privilege and pleasure of teaching in the HFL Social Studies department with
Roland for over 20 years. He was a consummate professional educator who brought his love of learning and his joy in teaching to his classroom daily . He had the gift of making history come alive for his students as
Well as sharing his appreciation for Clint Eastwood
He added his wit and spirit to our department meetings making them quite memorable Roland Lyle was truly a gift to the students and parents of HFL and will sadly be missed by all who knew him. Our love and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time
Rest In Peace Roland you certainly deserve it

Mr Lyle was one of the best teachers at HFL. I never will forget the last day of school my senior year when Mr. Lyle played "Get over it" by the Eagles as Loud as the music
player would go. He was dancing and singing along in front of the class. It truly was his message to all of us. When life kicks you hard and all is extremely difficult don't give up, don't wallow in your misfortunes "GET OVER IT!" This was his message. Get up and keep plugging along. I have tried to live my life by this lesson he had taught. It truly is a life lesson. I emagin Mr. Lyle up in heaven looking down on all of us singing and dancing telling us to "Get over it." God speed Mr. Lyle. Thank you for your life lesson you taught me. You will be missed by all that knew you. Truly one of the greatest teachers I had. I'm praying for Mr. Lyle his family and friends. My deepest sympathy and confidences to his family.

Mr. Lyle was an amazing teacher. He was one of the great teachers at HFL that challenged us to always do our best and take a lesson from every experience. To this day when my sisters & I reminisce about his classes "Clint" is brought up.
I write this as I look at a piece of the bedroom set I bought from a garage sale I found in Honeoye Falls in 1998; little did I know when my mom and I drove up that it was Mr. Lyle's house. We chatted for a bit as I hadn't seen him since graduation in '95. Sold me a lot of furniture & household items for cheap that day and I still have some of them. Thanks for the Economics lesson, Mr. Lyle.

Thank you Mr. Lyle for giving me a passion for history and learning. There are few high school teachers we actually remember, but Mr. Lyle was that teacher that you remember and smile- because he was so real, and eccentric, and passionate, and just an all-around amazing person. He is part of my fondest high school memories, and I say this over 15 years later (Class of 2002, HFL). He had such an impact, and his students will always remember him- his vivaciousness, his humor, and how he made you LOVE the history that he loved. When you share your passion with other people the way that he did- they remember that. He will live on through his students, and we’ll never be able to watch The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly without remembering Mr. Lyle, the teacher who truly gave us an interest and love for the history he taught us. Rest in peace, Mr. Lyle. It might be cheesy, but I see you riding into the sunset, part of the history and stories you loved.

Mr. Lyle was one of those teachers that went into school each and every day looking to make an impact. I remember a rather impassioned lecture he gave warning us high schoolers just how small and sheltered our world was. When we said we were going into the "city" we meant Henrietta, not Rochester and for sure not the larger cities in the world beyond. He always challenged us to thing bigger and I am very grateful for that. We are all better for having known him. Hugs to his family!
