As her granddaughter she was a big part of my life. She was always there to listen.
I was on my way to work a couple days ago and heard this beautiful song on the radio. It was a piano and harp playing together. I got out my iphone and "Shazamed" it (recorded the artist and title). I was so excited about it. But, as soon as it got the song I remembered that grandma had passed away... my eyes teared up. I sincerely miss the times with I could just call up and say "Hi, I just wanted to know if it was okay if I stopped by". I miss having my grandmother to talk to and share things with - like that song.

Doris was a dear person. I first met her through her son, Richard, when they stopped into my cafe for soup and sandwiches. I may have seen her before that time, at the Mendon farmer's market, but she really made an impression on me at the cafe. She was a great piano player and played totally by ear! She and I had music in common. Right away, we hit it off. I would look forward to her visits and hoped each time, she might sit down at that piano. She did play on a few occasions and I enjoyed it so much. Once Sunday, she showed up with her family at my church while I was playing and so started a reciprocal musical and personal relationship. I only knew Doris for a short time but her memory will stay with me forever. And as a result, I have met two other wonderful people - her husband, Alvin and son, Richard. I am sure she is playing her heart out right now in heaven. Peace, Doris, forever. Mary B.
