Obituary of Roy N. Parrish

Roy N. Parrish of Ionia died Monday, July 24, 2017 at age 94. Predeceased by his brothers, Donald, Floyd, Karl, Raymond, Merwin and Lester; son-in-laws Gordon Breese and Pat Dawson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine; son, Ronald (Sandra) Parrish; daughters, Linda Breese, Anita (Ronald) Robinson, Colleen Dawson and Donna (Edward) Johnson. Grandchildren, Christina (Jim) Breese Rowland, Kimberly (Andre Wilson) Breese, Sarah (William) Foley, Holly (Chad) Parrish Trickey, Laura (Caleb) Parrish Moore, Robert Parrish, Ashley (Jake Griffin) Johnson, Lindsay Johnson, Katie Robinson and Michelle Robinson; great grandchildren, Julianna Breese, Elijah Breese and Ethan Breese Rowland. Roy was a member of the Ionia United Methodist Church. He was one of the founding members of the Ionia Volunteer Fire Co. He had served on the West Bloomfield Town Planning Board for 16 years and was chairman of the W. Bloomfield Republican Party for 8 years. He had been an executive member of the Ontario County Republican Committee since 1985. After retiring from farming, he started up a mowing business with his wife Elaine. They ran the "Royal Lawn Mowing" business for 13 years. Roy enjoyed traveling and towing his camper throughout the United States. Friends may call Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Merton H.
