Obituary of Dora M. Ryan

Dora Margaret Ryan age 92 died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She was born the daughter of John and Hester Olivia Wolf Witherow on July 10, 1920 in Avon, NY. She was a very active member of St. Rose Church in Lima, belonged to Sweet Adelines, worked for Eastman Kodak during WW II and then became a quilter and worked from her home in Lima. Dora was predeceased by her husband Bernard, brothers, John and Larry Witherow, sisters, Jean Tubbs and Judy Irland. Dora graduated from Avon High School, but lived in Lima for all the years she was married to Bernie and all the years after his death. Dora was loved by all who knew her and she had many, many good friends. She is survived by her son John P. Ryan of California; her brother Kenneth (Evelyn) Witherow of Henrietta; nephew Gerry (Wanda) Tubbs of Lima and many other nieces and nephews. No prior calling. Dora's Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Rose Church, 1985 Lake Ave. Lima at 10 am. Burial will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Lima. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dora's name may be made to St. Rose Church.
