Obituary of Jeanette A. Pohwat
Jeanette A. Pohwat, "Tootsie" of Naples, NY and formerly of Cheektowaga, died suddenly, December 11, 2010, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, two days before her 72nd birthday. She was born the daughter of Maksymillian and Marie Koziol Skop on December 13, 1938 in Buffalo, NY. Tootsie worked for many years as a secretary at Swift & Co. in Buffalo, NY; she was an avid gardener, winning 1st place in the 2003 Naples Garden Contest; she loved baking, reading and feeding the birds at her home in Naples. She always prepared traditional Polish meals for Wigilia Christmas Eve dinner and Easter brunch. Beloved wife of the late Richard "Butch" Pohwat, who died January 4, 2010. Dearest mother of Kathryn, Karen (James) Zielinski and Lynda (K. Scott Barrett); loving Babcia of John and Timothy; sister of the late, Josephine (late Richard) Kubala, Theresa Chudy, Max (late Rose) Skop. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
No prior calling. Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30 am on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road, Mendon. If so desired, memorials may be made to McQuaid Jesuit High School, 1800 S. Clinton Ave., Rochester, NY 14618.
