Obituary of Ruth E. Schmidt

Ruth E. Schmidt of Pittsford, NY died peacefully, Monday, January 28, 2013 at age 88. Ruth was born June 30, 1924 in Mendon, NY the daughter of Elmer and Wilhelmina King Whitbeck. Ruth is survived by her loving husband and constant companion of sixty nine and half years, Bernard; her daughter, Barbara (Sidney) Malcolm; her son, James B.; two sisters, Erma Whitbeck and Alice McRae; sister in law Edna Whitbeck; her granddaughter, Amy Malcolm (Joseph Myers); her grandson, Alex (Amber) Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was the first female mail carrier in Pittsford in 1966. She and Bernie maintained a second home in Cape Vincent, NY for over 45 years. They obtained their ham radio licenses late in life and enjoyed visiting with friends allover the world as N2VDK (Ruth) and N2VDN (Bernie). Ruth enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and spending time with her family. There will be no prior calling observed. Services and her burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers memorials to the National Psoriasis Foundation; St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Pittsford or to a charity of ones choice.
