To The VanderVen Family:
Our memories of Van;
his larger than life personality...include his smile & laugh, that big head of curly hair, his Afghan rebel hat and his many famous sayings:
"Church is out"
"You can only eat & sleep so well"
"Hey Kid"
"Just one more half of one"
"Shadee Lady"
"Don't own more than you can maintain"
"She's got a little Mummy Tummy"
and so many more... Dean will cherish all the times spent building things together. We will cherish our wonderful times with Van,Joanne & the family, you have always made us feel like part of your family.
Our Deepest Sympathy
Love,
Dean, Cindy and Charleston & Taylor French

Van once told me, "Live your life as best as you can." I believe he did just that.
Just the other day he excitedly shared stories of his recent family trip to Balize. He was so excited!
Van provided the wind that filled the sail.

The fish fry I attended in the backyard at Asparagus Junction - Roland and, I believe, Todd caught the fish then deep fried them outside -oh so good! The Thanksgiving I spent with the VanderVen family - I lost count how many were there at that huge table. Roland and I betting on the Ohio State-Michigan football game every year - the Buckeyes were winners a lot more than Michigan, if I remember correctly. Many fond memories of being with the VanderVen family in Ionia. My love, thoughts and prayers to Joanne and all the family. Ellie.

Roland ( The Dutchman)
Though I did not know you via the conventional routine, Doris and I met you and Joanne at Jim Kolby's home at a party. We did a couple of business deals
after that and I was always struck by your honesty and great smile/sense of humour.
