Obituary of Richard S. Pohwat
Richard S. Pohwat, of Naples, NY and formerly of Cheektowaga died Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Benincasa in Mendon. Butch was 73. He was born the son of John and Stella Pasterz Pohwat on March 24, 1936 in Buffalo, NY. Butch was a Cpl. of the United States Marine Corps. serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a retiree of SM. Flickingers in Cheektowaga, NY where he worked for more than 35 years. Beloved husband of Jeanette A. (nee Skop) for 51 years; dearest father of Kathryn, Karen (James) Zielinski and Lynda (K. Scott Barrett); coolest dziadzia of John and Timothy; brother of Katherine (Eugene) Jaroszewski, Charlotte (late Bronislaus) Wysokenski, Florence, John Jr. (Martha), Geraldine (late Alfred) Rukitka, Margaret, Rosalie (Walter) Cerankowski, late Stanley, Edward (late Anne), Barbara Bonito, Jeanette (late Jacob) Maczuga, Gloria (late Stephen) Siwiec, Sylvester (Lois) and Henry (Rita). Many nieces and nephews.
At his request, no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass, Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 26 Mendon-Ionia Road, Mendon. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Benincasa, 3880 Rush-Mendon Road, Mendon, NY 14506.
