Obituary of Steven J. Cowell
Steven J. Cowell, 58 of Batavia passed away peacefully on August 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous fight against cancer.
He was born July 2, 1966, in Batavia to Sharon and the late Beverly Cowell.
Steven enjoyed spending his free time fishing with his son, tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, and with his family, especially his grandkids, who were his pride and joy. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and always saw the brighter side of every situation.
Steven started his career as a Village of Corfu police officer while also working as a state park police officer. He later moved on to Time Warner Cable/Spectrum, where he worked for many years before retiring. Shortly after retiring, he started working for ANS, where he became a NOC analyst and loved his job.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Tamara (Tucker) Cowell. Daughter Sarah Hinca (Kevin), Sons Spencer Cowell and Ramsey Leach, Stepchildren Jeramie Josephite, and Jenna Josephite. His grandchildren Kaydence, Piper, Waylon, Makayla, Trenton, and Jaxon. His mother Sharon Cowell (Dave), Sisters Jacqueline (Tom) Carey and Christine (Karl) Thielges, Brother Michael (Jennelle) Cowell, Mother in-law Linda Tucker, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friend/neighbor Chuck Keif.
In death, he is reunited with his father Beverly Cowell, grandparents Dominic and Jennie Irrera and Glenn and Violet Cowell, many aunts and uncles and his best friend Walter Carney.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life for Steven to be held on September 7th, 2024 from 1-5pm at St Maximilian Kolbe Social Hall located behind the church at 8656 Church St, East Pembroke, NY.
