Obituary of Dean E. Pritchard
Dean Ellis Pritchard "Deano" , 72 of Canandaigua formerly of Honeoye, NY passed away peacefully on August 3, 2024 in his home, with his wife holding his hand and family members by his side after a very brief battle with liver/pancreatic cancer. Dean also dealt with COPD for many years, and he would always remind us how one of his doctors referred to him as a "miracle child" due to how well he controlled that.
Dean was born on July 18, 1952 in Rochester, NY to Ervin and Anne Pritchard who pre-deceased him. He is also pre-deceased by his brother David Mathew Pritchard. Dean graduated from Honeoye Falls-Lima High School in 1970 and attended SUNY Delhi. Dean worked as a boilermaker at RG&E for 33 years, mainly stationed at Russell Station on the lake and also at BeeBee Station and Ginna Nuclear Power Plant in Ontario. He began his career with RG&E as a meter reader and had many fun stories to tell of those days.
Dean loved to sit on his front porch in Canandaigua and talk to the neighbors while handing out dog treats to the neighborhood dogs. He would always make sure there was a fresh bowl of water for the dogs outside for those hot summer days. He loved to learn about local history and his family's genealogy. One of his favorite past times was searching for arrowheads and other Indian artifacts while also having a good collection of local artifacts. One of his favorite memories was when he participated in a historic dig of the old hotel at the north end of Hemlock Lake. While living in Hemlock he enjoyed evening rides on his Honda motorcycle.
Dean is survived by his wife of 35 years Robin, his sons Dillon (Chelsea), Mason (Katie) and Sean (Pritchard) (Christine) Christie ; grandchildren, Alilyana and Alexis; his younger sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Bob Dardenne of Macedon, NY. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins As well as his best buddies Robbie Smith of Springwater, NY and Gregory Carpenter of Walnut Cove, NC. The family cat Oreo, will miss his warm lap and soothing strokes.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Dean's name to either Canandaigua Emergency Squad or Finger Lakes Ambulance.
